Jungle Island has been one of Miami's most popular attractions for over 65 years. Miami’s #1 family attraction, is home to the world’s rarest and most incredible animals, including Mama Cass, theonly tame Cassowary on the planet; monkeys; the liger, who holds the Guinness Book of World Records title as the World’s Largest Cat; and Peanut and Pumpkin, only the third set of Orangutan twins to be born in captivity. You can also find here, Ligers which are the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger, Ligers usually have a tiger-like striping pattern on a lion-like tawny background. Since lions and tigers naturally do not share the same ranges, ligers are not known to exist in the wild. The liger is the largest cat in the world, possibly resulting from imprinted genes or growth dysphasia.
Participate in hands-on interactions with fascinating animals, marvel at the engaging animal shows and presentations, and be amazed by the park’s breathtaking, lush landscapes and vistas. Exhibits include themed areas such as Manu Encounter, a free-flying aviary and an Amazon reproduction where visitors can walk among macaws, squirrel monkeys, green iguanas, porcupines and a kinkajou. The park has covered walkways throughout.
You can also go behind the scenes on Jungle Island with an exclusive VIP Safari Tour, or enjoy a one of a kind experience with our Lemurs from Madagascar. Great for kids! Excellent photograph opportunities!
Jungle Island’s Lemur Experience allows members of the public the chance to learn extensively about these colorful and vivacious creatures, while interacting with them in a hands-on way.
The 45-minute experience brings small groups of guests in the park’s Lemur Nursery, where rare red-ruffed and black-and-white ruffed lemurs are growing up and developing. Quite the rambunctious crowd, the lemurs often make themselves right at home either on guests’ laps, shoulders or heads. (Don’t worry – they don’t charge for their hair styling services.) After a lemur has leaped off of your head, you’ll never be quite the same!
Native only to the island of Madagascar, lemurs are considered very rare in the animal kingdom. While some species of lemurs have actually gone extinct as a result of habitat destruction, the three types of lemurs on Jungle Island are each classified as either endangered or threatened.
The 45-minute Lemur Encounter includes an educational session with our animal trainer and a chance to play with and hold these charming little rascals.
Jungle Island’s VIP Safari Tour is an animal lover’s paradise. Often called “the best kept secret in South Florida,” our signature offering is a privately guided, 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour of the Jungle that brings guests closer than ever to some of the world’s most rare and fascinating animals.
The journey starts with an introduction to the park by our expert tour guide who is personally familiar with all of the animals in the park. The Safari includes personal interactions with everything from red-ruffed lemurs, one of the rarest animals on earth, to the only tame Cassowary on the planet. The Cassowary, native to New Guinea, is one of the most lethal birds on the planet, yet on Jungle Island, guests can get closer than ever to this stunning and graceful beauty.
Also included on the Safari Tour are one-on-one sessions with Red Kangaroos from Australia, Aldabra Tortoises from the Seychelle Islands, Capuchin Monkeys from South America and parrots from around the world. Nowhere else can guests get up-close and personal with such an array of fascinating creatures.
And, don’t just take our word for it. Guests who have experienced the VIP Safari Tour call it “breathtaking” and many have said they were “left speechless.” One couple hailed it as “the highlight of our honeymoon.” The park has received scores of letters praising the Safari as an extraordinary experience that is not to be missed!
