Kennedy Space Center ... One Giant Leap!
Just 40 years ago, the Earth stood still to watch as the crew of Apollo 11 landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. Four days earlier, the intrepid crew of three men, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, launched aboard the massive Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center, carrying the hopes and dreams of mankind with them. The highlights of this tour of NASA’s launch headquarters explores the International Space Station Center – “The dream that seemed impossible,” an up close view of the largest most complex structure ever to be placed into orbit; The LC 39 Observation Gantry – A 60 foot tall launch complex with breathtaking 360 degree views of the 2 giant shuttle launch pads and more, as well as, the Apollo/Saturn V Center- A tribute to the Apollo astronauts and the machines that brought them to the moon and back to the earth safely, featuring a real Saturn V rocket.
